Since Lee was leaving for a few days on a work trip, we went to his office to have lunch with him. It was a treat for the girls and Annabelle loved talking to "Kelly" on the phone - we don't know anybody named Kelly.

Big sister duties

While I was in the kitchen fixing Annabelle and Ruby's lunches, Annabelle was quiet and you know something's going on if Annabelle's quiet. So I asked Annabelle what she was doing and she said, "Feeding Ruby." I walked in the dining room and there was Annabelle feeding Ruby her prunes. Even though she made a huge mess, it was so precious! I can't believe Annabelle's old enough to open a baby food container, get a spoon out of the drawer, and feed her little sister!

So after I put Annabelle down for her afternoon nap, this is what I heard over the monitor (sorry for the crazy video...it's about the sound, not the picture...wish I was tech-savvy enough to change it into a sound file, but oh well!). If you can't understand her, she's singing "I love you, Lord," which we sing at least once a day. It's one of my favorite hymns. That girl melts my heart!

Happy new year!

After forgetting Annabelle's clothes, except the clothes on her back, we had a very merry Christmas in Georgia! Every cute smocked Christmas dress, every pair of pajamas, everything! I packed it a few days before we left and put it in her closet so she wouldn't unpack it and strow it all over the house, and in the chaos of packing and loading a family of 4, it got left. Good thing I have several friends in Thomasville with little girls around Annabelle's age! We were able to borrow some clothes and made do. We also lost a Croc along the trip, but besides that we had a great time! I still think the Croc is going to turn up after all the snow melts - I think it fell out of the van before we left the house. C'est la vie!

Annabelle had a great time running around outside in the gorgeous, warm weather! She is not a snow bunny! We had fun sharing Ruby with everybody. Now we're back in New York and getting settled into a new semester. The weather has been brutal - several big snowstorms and lots of cold weather. We're hoping it's going to be a short winter and we can get outside soon! It's hard to believe that Ruby is 7 months old already and Annabelle is really starting to look like a big girl. She is so sweet and loves to snuggle with mama! Ruby is a very social baby - she will play on the floor with some toys, but she wants to be able to see you and make sure you're watching her! She is all smiles all the time and is so much fun. Here's some pics:

These girls keep us busy, so this is the first time we have had a chance to post some pictures in a while! The top two pictures are from our trip to the Bronx Zoo over the second weekend in October. Annabelle had a great time at the petting zoo and Ruby did a good job hanging on for the ride! The bottom two pictures were taken after church today--these are some pretty little girls!

Annabelle enjoyed her Jeep ride to the commissary with her daddy. Don't worry, grandparents, it's only 2 miles from our house and the speed limit on post is 25. ;-)
Our Ruby is the sweetest little baby. She was all smiles this morning! I wish those eyes would stay blue, but I'm sure they'll turn a beautiful brown!

Fun Saturday

Ruby enjoyed herself this Saturday, swinging in her swing and giving Mom and Dad lots of pretty smiles. We also went to a parade on the Plain at West Point today and Annabelle had fun playing with a doggie and meeting one of the Army Mules!

Summer Days with Two Little Girls

Today was a beautiful day in New York, so Annabelle put on her bathing suit and got some quality time in her pool. As you can tell, she has a nice set-up! Ruby was one month old this past weekend--she likes to look around alot and has been a real sweet baby. She slept for six hours straight last night, so she is going to fit into this family really well if she keeps that up! As you can tell by one of these pictures, Annabelle is doing lots of exploring these days. She can count to ten and is stringing all sorts of sentences together--every day is a new adventure!

End of Week 1

Ms. Ruby is doing great and Annabelle has been such a good big sister this week. As you can see from the pictures, little Ruby is strong! She likes to pop her neck up and around so that she can see what is going on. Annabelle has been up to some funny antics this week--including creating a new milk cup as you can see in this picture!

At 3:13pm on Thursday we welcomed our new beautiful daughter, Ruby Alice, into this world at West Point's Keller Army Hospital. She was 11 lbs, 1 oz and 22 in long--as some of the nurses said, Heather gave birth to a 3 month old! Heather did so great during the labor and birth--I was so proud of her and so thankful for the doctors and nurses that helped us along the way. All babies are little miracles, and we are so thankful that God blessed us with another beautiful baby girl. We named her Ruby because we liked the uniqueness of the name and we wanted to remind her of her southern roots. Alice is after Lee's grandmother who passed away a couple of years ago--without a doubt, one of the strongest, most devoted women we have ever met and certainly someone worth of Ms. Ruby growing up to emulate. Annabelle LOVES to read books...she's constantly bringing me books and saying "read please." At least she's polite when she asks! It takes her no time to memorize them and read them back to us. Here's a video of the birthday book (no, it's not her birthday)...

Mother's Day

Trip to Newport

A few weeks ago, I decided that Lee and I needed a "babymoon" before this baby comes next month (or July). We bought a plane ticket for Juju to come up and watch Annabelle and we took off to Newport, Rhode Island, for a few days. We had a very relaxing time in the quaint coastal town. We ate a lot of great seafood and enjoyed each other's company. A few pics from the trip (yes, this belly is getting HUGE!!!).

It was time to say goodbye to the baby mullet. Annabelle's hair was in her eyes and she won't keep a bow it it, so after a picnic lunch, we went to the Salon on the Hudson in the Thayer Hotel here at West Point to have her first haircut. She did great sitting in my lap and Lee read to her. I'm pretty happy with the results...she looks even more like Lee (if that's possible) with shorter bangs!

We had so much fun at the West Point Easter egg hunt! It took Annabelle a while to figure out what was going on, but eventually she was picking up eggs and putting them in her basket. She loves running around and is absolutely fearless - she loves her freedom! We're going to have to keep close tabs on this girl. She also celebrated her 18 month "birthday" this weekend. She is so much fun and mimics everything that we say.

Oh my! It's been a long time since we've posted anything! A quick update:
Lee graduated from Cornell with his master's degree.
We moved into our new house at West Point on December 21.

Heather's parents helped us get moved in and we had a quiet, wonderful white Christmas.

Annabelle had her 15 month appointment and is 32 inches long and 25.5 pounds!

Heather's preggers and the baby is due July 7.

Annabelle started walking and is off to the races!

We are having so much fun with our sweet little girl!

Beautiful Sunday

We had a great time today enjoying a beautiful fall day in Ithaca. After church and a little nap, we took a pictures in front of the pretty trees on our street. We drove a few miles south of town to an orchard where we had some apple cider donuts and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Before coming back home, we stopped at a little farm store and took some pictures in their pumpkin patch. We finished the day up with some time playing in the leaves in our front yard and then sitting with momma on the porch. What a fun day!

Fall in New York

What a difference a year makes! We took our beautiful daughter on a hike in Watkins Glen State Park, about 30 minutes from Ithaca. She enjoyed being outside even though it was a little chilly! She filled her daddy's ear with lots of talking the whole time...given the proximity of her mouth to his ear with her in the backpack, he was ready for a break after an hour and a half of walking! It was a beautiful park and a perfect way to spend a Sunday with our little family!

How about hanging out with celebrities on your first birthday? Annabelle was wished a happy birthday by country star Trace Adkins on our visit down to West Point this weekend. She was such a sweet girl and enjoyed her cupcake, presents, and visit to her future home! When we got back, we opened our present from Nanny and Papa and loved it! You are such a sweet girl Annabelle, we love you and are so thankful for all of the joy you have given us over these past 12 months!

Annabelle has been such a good traveler through all of our summer adventures. After a 14 hour ride from Atlanta to Ithaca, she is still recovering. Lee caught her falling asleep in this position during an afternoon nap this week--she can sleep anywhere just like her daddy!

Happy Father's Day!

Today was Lee's first Father's Day. He is the best daddy and husband that I could ever ask for and I am thankful for him every day. He is my partner in this crazy life and I can survive every twist and turn that life throws our way as long as he is by my side.

Today I think about my daddy and all of the memories that I have of him. He has always been good to me and I am so blessed to have wonderful, supportive parents!

Lee, Annabelle, and I are in Georgia for the summer and visiting our family and friends. We are having a great time, despite the oppressive heat, and enjoying the Robinsons' pool. Annabelle has turned out to be quite the waterbaby!

On the drive down from New York, we stopped in Lexington to visit a friend, Meredith. We were driving along a country road and saw a camel , buffalo, and some llamas in a field beside the road. Only in Kentucky!

So I went in Annabelle's room to see if Lee was able to rock her to sleep and this is what I found. How cute is it that both of their heads are tilted the same way? By the way, she's sleeping around 6-7 hours at night...yeah!!!

Thanksgiving

Lee, Annabelle and I had a very quiet Thanksgiving at our house. I made my first attempt at dressing...not bad, I must say, and the turkey was quite good! Annabelle wore her Thanksgiving dress that Juju made her. We put up Christmas decorations and enjoyed our time together. I am thankful for a beautiful, healthy baby girl, my wonderful husband, and family and friends that love me so much. Happy Thanksgiving!

Dessert and New Activities

Annabelle has found her hand in the past couple of days and it proves to be a pretty good dessert. She spends a good few minutes after most meals munching on her hand and getting ready for whatever the next activity is going to be. We have been on several little drives lately too--she likes going to the grocery store. Since the flooring is tile in part of the store, it lulls her to sleep and she just snoozes through the rest of the trip. We walked downtown yesterday too and Annabelle was nice and comfy inside of Daddy's jacket despite the 30 degree weather. These two pictures show you how much she likes her carseat and that she is ready for Thanksgiving!

One of our favorite times with Annabelle is right after she eats. In this video she is more awake than she usually is after eating. We get a few good stretches, a few licks of the tongue, and then an occassional fuss after she is done. As opposed to this video, the alternate is a total food coma with curling up on Daddy's shoulder to get burped and then (maybe) take a nap. She is six weeks old today!

Gametime/Bathtime

Annabelle is a good game partner--although this picture looks like she is rooting the Bulldogs on, she is usually a good napper during the afternoons. She has had a good weekend thus far, lots of naps and some almost-smiles at Mom and Dad. Annabelle really likes her bath time. We are on the once every other day bath time routine (barring some type of poo or spit-up disaster). She loves to sit in the water while Dad runs water over her and Mommy bathes her. After the bath can be a little tricky to avoid the fussiness while toweling off, but she is getting more used to it now. So here are some pics of our little 5 week old!

What's in a name

You may be wondering where we got Annabelle Agnes from, so here it is! Heather's great grandmother's name was Annie Bell Barwick, so we made that into Annabelle. Agnes was Heather's grandmother that she grew up next door to and loved dearly, so we named her Agnes in honor of her. There you go!

We survived one month! We're still working out some feeding issues, but she's gaining weight and we're getting there. She loves her bouncy seat and is not so sure about the swing. Tummy time is not so fun...just the mention of it makes her cry! We love her so much!

I guess Annabelle has kept us busy because she is one month old today and we are just now getting our blogspot up and going! Annabelle celebrated her first four weeks of life today by doing plenty of eating, taking a few pictures, and welcoming trick or treaters to the house in her little monkey costume. Heather and Lee are back "on their own" since Lee's parents and sister Jenny left this past Tuesday. We have handled it pretty well I think--Annabelle is starting to get some round cheeks and a little round belly, so we must be doing something right! We anticipate a potentially rough night tonight since she slept a lot during the day today, but hopefully it will be less than another 4 weeks before we get around to another post.
